Slugger Pete Alonso and the Mets are in agreement on a two-year, $54 million contract, sources said, ending a lengthy free agency with a return engagement to the only team for which he has played.

The New York Mets have reportedly made a call on a return of Jose Iglesias in the wake of a blockbuster reunion for their homegrown slugger.

Pete Alonso, the top free-agent first baseman available this offseason, has signed an agreement to remain with the New York Mets, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.  It's a two-year deal for Alonso that is worth $54 million guaranteed,
