BBC Studios has taken a minority stake in UK-based Samphire Films, the production company founded last year by Sophie Leonard and David Hodgkinson, to support its rapid growth and global expansion.

OpenAI’s Sora has not gained traction in Hollywood due to studios’ concerns about AI’s impact on creativity and labor.

OpenAI started pursuing Hollywood after the introduction of Sora in early 2024 but they are yet to produce any deals.

OpenAI has spent months talking to the industry’s largest studios such as Disney and Warner Bros but faces a hard sell after 2023 labour strikes.
