Major League Baseball has fired umpire Pat Hoberg after he shared sports betting accounts with a professional poker player who bet on baseball.

Umpire Pat Hoberg was fired by Major League Baseball for sharing his legal sports gambling accounts with a friend who bet on baseball games and for intentionally deleting electronic messages pertinent to the league’s investigation.

According to an MLB press release, the investigation found that Hoberg was sharing accounts with a friend who bet on baseball. The former umpire deleting messages during the investigation also resulted in disciplinary action.
