The Royal House of Denmark’s jewellery collection includes inherited, gifted, purchased and borrowed jewels, which are best known from the large gala arrangements such as the New Year’s banquet, state visits and round birthday and anniversary celebrations.

The Danish crown jewels are living cultural heritage. Worn for generations by Danish queens, continually adapted to changing fashions and still in use to this day. They are the only crown jewels in the world that are both on display as museum exhibits – here at Rosenborg – and are also worn by the incumbent queen.

The Queen has access to a large collection of historic jewellery that has been passed on in the family. The collection is secured in the Danish Royal Property Trust, which was established in 1910. The Queen has exclusive right of disposal and use of the pieces in the trust, including the Pearl Poire set, which is worn at important official events.
