The state flag of Berlin, Germany has three stripes of red-white-red, the two outer stripes each occupying a fifth of its height, the middle the remaining three-fifths. It is emblazoned with a bear on the civil flag , while it bears the coat of arms of Berlin on the state flag.

East Berlin (German: Ost-Berlin; pronounced [ˈɔstbɛʁˌliːn] ⓘ) was the partially recognised capital of East Germany (GDR) from 1949 to 1990. From 1945, it was the Soviet occupation sector of Berlin. The American, British, and French sectors were known as West Berlin.

The first flag of East Germany, officially the German Democratic Republic, was a tricolour of black, red and gold, identical to the flags of the Weimar Republic, West Germany, and present-day Germany.

When Berlin was split into West and East Berlin, the East Berlin flag was modified with the addition of two white stripes outside the upper and lower red stripes, a slightly different designed bear was placed inside an escutcheon, which was then topped with a crown.

2017年11月11日 · Eastern Berlin The East Berlin ( German Democratic Republic ) flag after 1945 was the same that in use previously, but after 7th November 1956 another design (without official regulation) came into use.

East Berlin introduced in 1956 likewise the red-white-red flag of Berlin, but it showed in it the coat of arms of 1934. It was obviously not used for a long time. On the occasion of the festivity of "750 years of Berlin" was used s special form of this flag.

2021年2月20日 · Checking my scans of old diapositives I realized, that this flag was in use at least since 1963, when I spotted the same version at Alexanderplatz in East Berlin. Furthermore a similar flag is depicted upon a stamp, when the 15 years anniversary of DDR was celebrated, which happened in 1964.

2012年3月31日 · It was a design created by Sigmund von Weech which was adopted in 1934/35 and continued by the Magistrate of [East] Berlin from 1946 until the reunification of Berlin in 1990. Stadler 1966 also reports that the present flag (i.e. the West Berlin flag 1954-1990) was in unofficial use since 1912.
