Fermentation temp control with an electric blanket?
2008年10月28日 · Anyway, I was thinking that maybe I could wrap an electric blanket for a bed around the entire fermenter, and control the temps with a ranco / love temp controller. My fermenter is about 6' tall and 24" diameter. I have a probe from a digital thermo covered in bubble insulation and taped to the outside wall of the fermenter to keep an eye on temps.

2011年3月28日 · There seems to be some control logic in the blanket itself - the juice is cut off when the power supply is disconnected from the blanket. I'm going to go over it tomorrow with a multimeter to see if I can spot where on the circuit board, the current shifts when the unit turns on and try to short it.

2008年12月9日 · Actually I have switched from the electric blanket to a mattress warmer, much more "comfy". Somehow the cold always came up from the mattress even with a 3" memory foam on it. But I never got rid of the good old electric blankey, it's still on the bed, the wiring is underneath just in case it gets really cold!

2024年5月21日 · I am a quilter and I have 2 good warm quilts made just for the van bed and the bed itself is wrapped in a good quilted fabric cover so now add the electric blankie and we are comfy. Just have to be aware to never turn the blanket above warm. I never leave home without 4-5 good warm flannel shirts and some super ugly but fluffy warm lounging pants.

2023年1月27日 · Even better would be if the cone jacket was in a separate zone than the sleeve jacket. For large batches, I would put a jumper hose between zones. For small batches, I'd only send glycol to the cone. In the case of heating, personally I find the electric blanket heater thingies rather problematic with too much lead time and overshoot etc.

After that you need to start thinking of a makeshift isolation chamber, a cheap $9 walmart space heater, and a temp controller. The enclosure can be as simple as a table with a blanket draped over it (remember building forts as a kid?). Just keep the heater away from it.
